Why the house church model?

House churches are different from the typical American church setting. In house churches, we practice close community, and are relational, rather than program-based, in our approach to ministry. This doesn’t mean we aren’t organized, accountable, or ethical. In fact, we take those things very seriously. Rather, it means that life in a house church can look less predictable and a bit more DIY. This is by design since the church is supposed to be the sum of its members, with each person giving out of what God has freely given them. We are at our best when deeply connected to Christ and exercising our gifts for the good of one another.

We draw our inspiration from the early church as described in the book of Acts and the epistles (letters written by the Apostles). Grab a Bible and go check it out for yourself. They gathered mostly in homes, but also came together in public spaces whenever they could. We believe this adaptable, yet authentic and durable, form of the church is what our culture sorely needs. We are thrilled to be doing our part and can’t wait to see what the Holy Spirit has planned.
