About Acacia House Churches

Acacia House Churches is a network of Jesus centered and home-based communities in Central Florida. We gather often, disciple each other, teach the Bible, have fun with our families, and tell others about Jesus. We do our best to love and serve whoever comes our way.

We believe and teach the truth about God as explained in the Bible, and emphasized by historic Christianity.

Our goal is to develop spiritually vibrant, collaborative, disciple-making house churches all over Central Florida and to facilitate similar networks around the country.

As an interconnected movement of non-traditional churches, we don’t expect to do it all. We partner with other churches and like-minded organizations to meet needs and spread the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Values

Acacia House Churches takes its name from the type of wood Moses used to build both the Ark of the Covenant and the Tabernacle in the Old Testament (Deuteronomy 10:3).

Species of acacia trees can be found all over the world. But in the Sinai wilderness, they happened to be the only hardwood tree available. There are interesting parallels between acacia wood and certain key virtues we see affirmed in the New Testament.

Acacia is ordinary. But God used it for extraordinary purposes. In the same way, we might consider ourselves unremarkable. But Jesus confers great dignity and purpose by calling us to be His followers (Ephesians 2:10, 1 Peter 2:9).

Acacia is fruitful. A single tree can produce 100,000 seeds annually. So believers are also to bear fruit through the Holy Spirit (Galatians 2:22-23) and multiply disciples in season (Matthew 28:18-20, 2 Timothy 2:2).

Acacia is durable. The tree has adapted to survive intense heart and with little water. They have long taproots that draw nourishment even during droughts. Christians must also grow deep and mature in order to flourish in this ever-changing world (Psalm 1:1-3, Philippians 4:13).

Acacia is beautiful. Even when sin corrupts what God has made, He seeks to redeem his creation in a way that brings about new beauty. This is exactly what He’s done for fallen humanity. Despite all our problems, Jesus makes His people like a gorgeous bride (Ephesians 5:25-27, Revelation 21:2).

Our desire and prayer is to be a family of house churches with these qualities in common.
